Who We Are

Chiricahua Pasture Raised Meats is a small family farm owned by Josh & Tara Koehn. Our farm is situated in the beautiful, high desert Sulfur Springs Valley of Southeastern Arizona.

Our theme is to produce high quality, ethically raised meats & eggs, and to make them available to your families. Josh has been raising pastured poultry  since 2004. Since then, grass fed beef and lamb as well as pastured pork have been added to the product offerings.

In 2018, we started working closely with Josh’s cousin Todd & his family’s farm to assist in meeting increasing demand. The cattle herd spends most of its time on Todd's family farm and Todd also helps with orders and delivery.

How We Farm

Our animals all get plenty of room to roam on our lush, irrigated pastures. We are adamant that "movement" and "green, growing forage" are two major keys to raising the happiest healthiest livestock, which become the healthiest, tastiest meats for your family to enjoy. All of our animals are moved to fresh pasture regularly, usually daily. We plant various types & mixes of pasture grasses, legumes, and forbs at various times through the year to provide green pastures for our stock year-around.

  • Our cattle are 100% grass fed and grass finished. Calves are purchased from area ranches at weaning. They spend the rest of their lives grazing our lush irrigated pastures. They are occasionally supplemented with high quality hay when needed. We do not use any grains, growth hormones, or antibiotics.
  • Our lambs are 100% grass fed. Josh raises Dorper sheep. They spend their lives from birth to harvest on our irrigated pastures.
  • Our hogs are purchased as newly weaned pigs at 5-8 weeks of age. Once on the farm, they are rotated on our pastures so they always have access to plenty of fresh, green forage. They are also supplemented with a non-GMO grain ration that is milled on farm.
  • Our poultry ( laying hens, meat chickens, and turkeys ) are raised from hatchlings. The birds are moved to fresh pasture daily once old enough to be out. They are also supplemented with a non-GMO grain ration milled on farm.
