The Beginning

At just 17 years old, Josh Koehn begins raising pastured poultry with a passion for ethical farming and self-sufficiency. CPR Meats is born from a simple desire: to feed families better.

Chiricahua Pasture Raised Meats (CPR Meats) is a small, family-owned farm rooted in the high desert of Sulphur Springs Valley, Southeastern Arizona. Founded by Josh and Tara Koehn, CPR began in 2004 with a teenage passion for pastured poultry—and has since grown into a full-scale regenerative operation offering grass-fed beef and lamb, pasture-raised pork and poultry, and farm-fresh eggs.

Our name honors the rugged Chiricahua Mountains that define our landscape and values. At CPR, everything we do starts with stewardship—of animals, soil, and community. We raise animals the way nature intended: outdoors, on pasture, rotating daily across irrigated fields to graze fresh, living forage. This builds stronger soil, healthier animals, and deeply flavorful, nutrient-dense meats you can trust.

Our beef and lamb are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. No grain. Ever. Our hogs and poultry are rotated through pasture and supplemented with non-GMO grains milled fresh on-farm, using Arizona-grown sorghum, triticale, and oats. Every animal is raised without growth hormones, routine antibiotics, or mRNA vaccines. This isn’t industrial farming—it’s regenerative agriculture with purpose.

Unlike most farms, we manage nearly every step in-house—from growing and feeding to butchering and packaging—ensuring unmatched traceability and quality. In 2018, Josh’s cousin Todd and his family joined the team, expanding both our impact and our reach. Together, we serve families across Arizona looking for clean, ethically raised meat—and we proudly partner with Desert Oasis Family Farm to help distribute raw milk and other regenerative goods.

Desert Oasis Family Farm is a dedicated raw milk dairy in Eloy, Arizona, operated by the Coblentz family. Though the name began in 2022, their roots in clean, ethical farming go much deeper—built on years of experience in pasture-based beef and local food markets.

After recognizing the lack of real, unprocessed dairy in Arizona, the Coblentz family acquired and revived Green Pastures Raw Milk Dairy. What followed was the launch of Desert Oasis: a laser-focused mission to provide pure, enzyme-rich milk from healthy, grass-fed cows to people who genuinely care about what they put in their bodies.

At Desert Oasis, raw milk is all we do. Our cows graze daily on irrigated pasture—never confined, never grain-fed, and never treated with hormones or routine antibiotics. We bottle each batch on-site by hand, keeping it unpasteurized, unhomogenized, and fully alive.

The result? Milk that’s rich in probiotics, enzymes, and fat-soluble vitamins—real food that strengthens gut health, supports immunity, and actually nourishes. In 2023, we joined forces with Chiricahua Pasture-Raised Meats to make local pickup and statewide delivery even easier.
