How it works
Pre-orders open Thursday, October 1

Reserve your turkey, pick your pickup day, and we take it from there. Nothing is charged until it's packed.

Step one

Reserve your turkey

Choose small (14 to 17 lb), medium (17 to 20 lb), or large (20 lb and up) and check out. There's no deposit and nothing is charged today.

Step two

Book your pickup day

You'll get a confirmation email and a text, both with a scheduling link. Have your order number ready, then pick the November day you want your turkey on your location's regular route. Each day has a limited number of turkeys, first come, first served.

Step three

We weigh and pack your turkey

A day or two before your pickup day we pack and tag your turkey. Once we know its actual weight, we enter it and your card is charged for that amount.

Step four

Pick it up

Meet us at your normal pickup time on the day you chose. It's your regular route, same as any other order.

Your order confirmation will show an estimated pickup date. That's a placeholder, not your pickup day. The day you choose on the scheduling link is.

Sizes and price
Three sizes, priced by the pound

Every turkey grows differently, so they are priced by their finished weight. Pick the size you want and we'll hold one in that range for you.

How the price works

You pay for the weight of your turkey

Small is $7.25 per pound, medium and large are $6.95 per pound. A 16 pound small turkey runs about $116 and a 19 pound medium about $132.

Nothing is charged when you reserve

There's no deposit. Your card is charged a day or two before your pickup day, once your turkey is packed and we know its exact weight.

Your size is a range, not an exact weight

We hold a turkey in the range you choose and get as close as we can. Every turkey comes whole with the giblets.

Why it tastes different
This is the real deal

A whole, pasture raised turkey, complete with giblets for the richest flavors and the most authentic holiday meal.

A life on open pasture

Our turkeys live outdoors on irrigated pasture where they forage daily, chase insects, and graze on fresh vegetation. That is where the superior taste and texture come from.

No antibiotics, no hormones

Nothing goes into our turkeys to push them faster. They grow at their own pace on pasture, the way a turkey should.

A non-GMO grain supplement

Turkeys are omnivores by nature, so ours eat bugs and worms alongside mixed forage and a non-GMO feed ration. That diverse diet is what makes a nutritious, flavorful turkey.

Giblets included

Every turkey comes whole with its giblets, so the gravy and the stock taste like they used to.

Roast it, smoke it, or fry it

Whether you are roasting, smoking, or deep frying, our turkeys bring tradition, quality, and unbeatable taste to your table.

Flash frozen, not fresh

We harvest in our own on-farm facility and flash freeze right away to lock in freshness. You get a turkey that is ready whenever you are. Plan your thaw time and you are set.

Thawing your turkey

Thaw your turkey in the refrigerator, not on the counter. Allow about 24 hours for every 4 to 5 pounds, so a 14 to 17 pound small turkey wants 3 to 4 days and one over 20 pounds wants closer to 5. Put it on a tray on the bottom shelf.

A thawed turkey holds fine in the refrigerator for a day or two, so bringing it out early costs you nothing. Waiting too long is the mistake that is hard to fix on Thanksgiving morning.

Picking up your turkey

Turkeys ride the regular November route, so yours comes to the same place your usual order does: your neighborhood pickup location, the farm in Cochise, Desert Oasis Family Farm, or UPS home delivery.

Pickup runs three weeks:

  • Week of Monday, November 2
  • Week of Monday, November 9
  • Week of Monday, November 16

You choose your day from the scheduling link we email and text you after you order. Each day and location has a limited number of turkeys, first come, first served. The date on your order confirmation is a placeholder, not your pickup day.

Your turkey comes flash frozen and stays that way on the drive home. Once you have it, keep it in the freezer until three to five days before you cook it, then thaw it in the refrigerator.

Where you pick up

The location you choose at checkout, at your normal pickup time on its route day that week.

Questions
Turkey questions, answered
How do I choose my pickup day?+
After you order you get a confirmation email and a text, both with a scheduling link. Have your order number ready, then pick the November day you want your turkey on your location's regular route. Each day and location has a limited number of turkeys, first come, first served, so book early. The date on your order confirmation is a placeholder from that location's regular schedule, not your pickup day. If the email and text do not arrive, call or text us at (520) 277-2345 and we will send them again.
What do your turkeys actually eat?+
Our turkeys live outdoors on irrigated pasture and are moved to fresh ground every day, where they forage on grass and fresh vegetation and chase insects. Turkeys are omnivores by nature, so bugs and worms are part of the diet. Alongside what they forage we feed a non-GMO grain ration that we mill ourselves here on the farm from Arizona-grown sorghum, triticale, and oats. No growth hormones and no routine antibiotics.
How big are the turkeys?+
Small turkeys run 14 to 17 pounds, medium 17 to 20, and large 20 and up. Turkeys grow at their own pace, so you are reserving a size range, not an exact weight. A rough guide is about a pound per person for a table with leftovers.
Can I request a certain size?+
You choose small, medium, or large when you order and we hold a turkey in that range for you. Because turkeys are weighed after harvest, we cannot promise an exact weight inside the range.
How much will my turkey cost?+
Turkeys are priced by the pound on their finished weight: $7.25 per pound for small and $6.95 per pound for medium and large. A 16 pound small turkey runs about $116 and a 19 pound medium about $132.
When am I charged?+
Nothing is charged when you reserve. There is no deposit. A day or two before your pickup day we pack and tag your turkey, enter its exact weight, and your card is charged for that amount. Watch for the Order Packed email at that point, the same as a regular order.
Can I reserve more than one?+
Yes. Place a separate order for each turkey so each one gets its own pickup booking.
What if I need to cancel?+
Call or text us at (520) 277-2345 as soon as you know. Nothing is charged until your turkey is packed, so a cancellation before then costs you nothing. Once it is packed and tagged for you, the sale is final.
What if I cannot pick up on my day?+
Call or text us at (520) 277-2345 as early as you can and we will move you to another open day. Our regular pickup policy applies to turkeys: an order that is not collected during the location's flex pickup hours is treated as canceled with no refund, and the host may use or donate it. Plan ahead and tell us if something comes up.
When is pickup?+
Turkeys ride the regular route the weeks of Monday, November 2, November 9, and November 16. You pick your exact day from the scheduling link we email and text you. At a neighborhood location, meet the driver at the scheduled drop time or pick up from the cooler anytime after during the flex hours. Check the clipboard for your package count and cross off your name before you leave.
Where do I pick my turkey up?+
Anywhere you normally get your order. Our neighborhood pickup locations across the Phoenix and Tucson areas are hosted at private homes and businesses, with your order waiting in a cooler on the porch or a similar spot. You can also pick up at the farm in Cochise, at Desert Oasis Family Farm, or have it shipped.
Can you ship my turkey?+
Yes. UPS home delivery is one of the options at checkout, and your turkey ships frozen the same way our other meats do. Milk and eggs are pickup only, so if those are in the same order they cannot ship with it.
Will my turkey be fresh or frozen?+
Frozen. We harvest in our own on-farm facility and flash freeze right away to lock in freshness. It arrives frozen on your pickup day.
How should I store and thaw my turkey?+
Keep it in the freezer at 0 degrees F or below until a few days before you cook it. Thaw in the refrigerator on a tray on the bottom shelf, allowing about 24 hours for every 4 to 5 pounds, so 3 to 4 days for a small turkey and closer to 5 for a large one. Keep the fridge at 40 degrees F or below.
How should I cook my turkey?+
Roast it, smoke it, or deep fry it, whichever your family does. Thaw it fully first, then cook to temperature rather than to the clock: pull it when the thickest part of the thigh reads 165 degrees F and let it rest before carving. Every turkey comes whole with the giblets, so the gravy and stock are covered.
Do you sell turkey parts too?+
The pre-order is for whole turkeys. Turkey breasts, leg quarters, and wings usually show up in the store later in the season, in limited numbers. If you want any of those, keep an eye on the turkey collection.
